Dr. Zarnegar has over 30 years of experience in behavioral health and clinical treatment. Dr. Zarnegar serves on the Advisory Board for Tharros House and helps to direct resource and team development. Her clinical insight also provides guidance for the development of client support services. Dr. Zarnegar brings a wealth of intuitive and insightful knowledge rooted from a quarter century of clinical experience.Dr. Zarengar received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, from California School of Professional Psychology and a Psy.D. In psychoanalysis, from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

We support all paths to recovery and assist our clients to build a foundation for independence and a successful transition. The ability to spend 6 months to a year in a supportive environment allows you to learn more about yourself and your addiction. Our support program will afford you support while you mend relationships with family and friends. At Tharros House, we combine a sober community with aftercare, assisting our clients as they acquire new skills to meet life’s challenges in a fresh and encouraging way. Our mission is to help our clients achieve long-term recovery, move on from feelings of shame, and learn how to live a fulfilled life. Our sober living home reinforces honesty and integrity as we provide support along the journey to cultivating a new, constructive and optimistic sober lifestyle. With more than 50 years of recovery experience, our team understands what you’re going through and we want to help you love life again.

We have experience helping clients achieve success and every decision we’ve made in the development and management of Tharros House centers around your success. We also include fun social events, like our weekly BBQ and bowling nights. Clients also learn life skills through one on one mentoring and fun events, like cooking with exceptional private chefs! Also included, our community offers activities, like weekend rock climbing, golf, and basketball. On Saturdays, clients can participate in engagement activities, like trampoline dodgeball, go-kart racing, and escape room challenges. We provide opportunities for meaningful development of community and positive social connection through these experiences and more.

At Teras, we offer structured sober living with flexible structure to meet the needs of those returning to family, work, school, or other commitments. At Teras, our experienced team, plus ancillary providers, provide a high level of support for clients to take action in a recovery fellowship, and engage outside structure. Tharros House approaches recovery by looking at both abstinence and your life satisfaction/ happiness. We employ the tenants of positive psychology to help identify what areas of your life will benefit the most from your attention, ultimately helping you achieve your goals and a life that you look forward to living! Tharros house has a great number of resources and we can refer you to therapists, programs, and licensed professionals as needed.

Christian Santilli is the Co-Program Director at Tharros House. He overseesoperations, manages staff and helps clients meet their goals on a day-to-day basis.Christian developed and runs our case-management system and serves as one of theprimary case managers himself.Christian is a former resident of Tharros House. He started his recovery journey atan inpatient, recovery program, outside of his hometown of Philadelphia.

Life at Teras

He spent13 months in the Tharros community, giving him a unique ability to relate to theclients he works with. He worked as an actor and teacher in theBoston area before finding a passion for working with other recovering addicts andalcoholics. Inside of his work at Tharros House, he has found the empathicconnection and capacity for change he was always looking for in acting.

We fit in between what you’d find at a clinical extended care program and very supportive recovery home. Each individual is supported to make his own choices in his recovery. Tharros offers an extensive and flexible peer support program to helps clients navigate important changes and decisions.

At Tharros House, we want to help you achieve your life goals and long­-term tharros house sobriety with the tools and foundation you’ve already acquired. Leaving a residential, inpatient, or outpatient treatment environment is often more challenging than expected. You’ve changed, but the people, places, and things around you haven’t. Some of the same triggers you had before can be reactivated and we recognize how frustrating and upsetting that can be.

Sober Living Requirements

However, experience has shown us, not every person with an addiction or alcoholism is the same. Our program isn’t cookie ­cutter; we want to get to know you and help ensure that you have what is necessary for you to achieve your goals. We help you see, what it is about you, you may have a hard time seeing. You are more likely to maintain long-term sobriety by entering and committing to a structured transitional living environment, like Tharros House. That’s why we encourage our clients to consider staying 6 months to one year. At Tharros House, we take a custom approach to each client, starting with a full understanding of each client’s needs and goals.

Perhaps you have a connection with a therapist or life coach that you want to continue. We encourage you to keep what works and add resources where it will benefit your recovery. There are no referral fees and our vetted licensed professionals accept a variety of insurances. We have the sole goal of connecting you with the providers who will help you the most -­ Period. A sober living home creates fellowship and community that can help you get back to a life where you are happy and fulfilled.

Our team connects with each client’s clinical providers to help understand what supports are needed before he arrives at Tharros. At Tharros House, you can expect to meet other male residents who are committed to their sobriety, have completed some form of primary treatment, and pass regular unannounced breathalyzer and urine tests. Our community offers extensive structure, much of which is optional. Peer to peer support is an essential component of recovery and The Tharros House only accepts residents who have made a commitment to giving recovery a chance; we work together as a community to overcome the challenges in early recovery. At Teras, clients work with their on-site case manager and our vocational coach to develop a recovery fellowship and engage work. Clients of Teras may also be involved in outpatient treatment while they develop a foundation in their recovery work, and apply to work positions.

The proper support, combined with a safe environment and first hand know-how will guide you to experience a new way of being and behaving. A sober living environment reinforces honesty and integrity as it supports you on your journey to acquiring a great new lifestyle. With 24/7 management and support , we can help you find an appropriate job, connect with the recovery community through volunteer opportunities and activities, find the right treatment resources, and build a foundation in sobriety. Learning to live a happy life free of alcohol and drugs takes time,  but you can do it if you want to.

Our experience has been that once our clients arrive at Tharros House, they understand and feel the benefits. You are not locked in to any long term agreements, but we do ask that you come planning to stay for at least 60 days. Not all sober living homes are the same and in fact beyond the differences in “amenities”, there are many other important factors to consider.

After 30 days, clients are expected to be employed while they continue progress in their recovery work. They continue to meet with their case manager weekly and participate in community support activities. Darren originally joined the Tharros House team in 2015 after spending 2 years working in the Los Angeles recovery community. In his leadership role at Teras House, Darren interfaces with clients, families, and our support staff. Darren’s primary focus is to promote client development of recovery skills that will serve their long-term sobriety. Darren holds a BA from Stonehill College and was most recently the Assistant Director at Tharros House.

Why Tharros House?

That study found that freestanding SLH’s offer enough structure, with no formal treatment, creating an optimal environment for residents ready for the next step. SLH’s provide an environment for individuals capable of handling a fair amount of autonomy and wish to take personal responsibility for their recovery. Teras is located two miles away from Tharros (both Tharros and Teras are in Lexington MA).
